disturbing

The story entitled “Generations” is one of the stories that I really could not relate on.

In the story it showed individuals who abuses their powers and authority. First is the father, he goes home drunk, beat up his wife and his children. He should be the one protecting them, not hurting them. Next are the soldiers, instead of protecting their people they took advantage of the young fifteen years old girl. They harassed her since they know that the girl needed something from them, the freedom of her father. Then the girl, who was able to get her father out of the barracks, but because of too much hatred she took the life of her own father.

In the story the mother wanted the family to hold on to each other, but that wouldn’t be possible if not everyone feels the same way. For me, it is important that the feeling of holding on to one another is mutual. Since if everyone in the family feels the same, then each member will learn how to give importance with how one feels. They would learn how to value each other despite the difficulties that will come along.

I got disturbed by the actions of the girl and by her brothers. She killed her own father and I felt like it didn’t bother her at all. The boys even reacted like it was a good thing that their father is dead. It said that their mother can find a new one.

It was hard to relate to this story since I belong to a happy family. Not perfect but doing just fine. We experience conflicts and disagreements but not to the point that we get to hurt each other physically. We still show respect and love to one another
.
Still the story was able to get my interest since it is something different from the other stories that we had in class.

hi claire!
hmn.. yeah.. i guess the main reason why we had a hard time to relate to the story is that we are different? haha! i mean, the way we grew up is so different from the little girl.

same here. at first i can't relate to the story. i mean di ko maimagine talaga na kayang gawin yun ng girl sa father nya. but then after our discussion, narealize ko na possible na may nageexist na ganong tao. i mean if they're raised kasi in that way, we can't blame them. for them kasi it's not wrong.
